Skillshare launches free photography classes

I’m all about learning outside of traditional classroom settings, and photography is a great skill for those with a passion for travel and exploring. The best part is that you don’t need an expensive camera to be a great photographer. Skillshare, a website that curates and shares community classes that you can take remotely, just launched their School of Photography. Many of the classes are free and don’t require a long commitment. They’re also taught by experienced and professional photographers, and cover different styles of photography (including editing and post-production).

Some of my favorites include Food Photography: Styling Photo Collages, a 40 minute class taught by  Julie Lee of Julie’s Kitchen. Lee creates beautiful collages using fresh ingredients.

Cityscape Photography: Capture Your City’s Story is perfect for urban explorers and is sure to spruce up your Instagram feed. Taught by a photographer who goes by the moniker trashhand, this class will show you how to scout a location, and take abstract, creative photographs.

This one is especially cool–Adventure Photography: Capturing Experiences Outdoors is taught by Patagonia photographer and writer Jeff Johnson, who will show you how to document your exploration and activities out in the wild.
